How to use the "Tab" key to quickly add circuit breakers to a Panelboard

COMPAS Go allows you to add circuit breakers to a Panelboard quickly and easily by using the "tab" key to navigate between circuit breaker options.

1. Before adding devices to the Panel, do a quick take-off from the panel schedule you are quoting. In this example the schedule calls for...

  • (4) 30 amp 3 pole breakers
  • (2) 40 amp 3 pole breakers
  • (6) 20 amp 2 pole breakers
  • (12) 20 amp 1 pole breakers

2. It is helpful to write this information down next to the schedule.

3. Navigate to the "devices" tab within the switchboard.

4. With your cursor blinking in the "quantities" box, every breaker can be added without having to touch the mouse

5. Adding the breakers in the order shown above, you would type...

  • 4 - TAB - 3 - TAB - 3 - TAB - ENTER
  • 2 - TAB - 3 - TAB - 4 - TAB - ENTER
  • 6 - TAB - 2 - TAB - 2 - TAB - ENTER
  • 12 - TAB - 1 - TAB - 2 - TAB - ENTER

The first number typed before the "TAB" key represents the quantity of the breaker, the second number typed represents the number of poles, and the third number typed represents the amperage.  The amperage box defaults to "30" when you press 3, "40" when you press 4, "20" when you press 2, etc.  Type the entire number for amperages ending in 5 (such as 25) or for three digit amperages (such as 200).

Essentially, the tab key is allowing you to navigate between selection boxes without using your mouse, and the enter key configures the device(s) into the Panelboard.  Utilizing this function drastically reduces the time it takes to configure a Panelboard.
