This article has a training video for Utility Metering Compartments in COMPAS Go.
Utility Metering compartments are configured when the specifications calls for a local Utility Metering Compartment as part of the Switchboard. The Utility compartment will be configured for bar or widow type CT’s per the Utility specifications. Usually, the lower amps are bar type & higher are window type.
Utility Metering Compartments can be applied to Main devices and Branch devices starting at 400 AMP.
When selecting a Utility Metering Compartment, a Regional Code is required. None is the default. Other selections are EUSERC, Chicago and New York City. The Regional Code drives the selections under the Utility Name. If you are in the western region, then the EUSERC Regional Code will provide Utility Names for the EUSERC Region.
Utility Compartments are built per the specifications provided by the Utility Companies.
Utility Metering Compartments are either Hot or Cold Sequence. Meaning where the Utility Compartment is located with relation to the Main device. If the Utility Compartment is located before the Main device, this is Hot Sequence. If the Utility Compartment is located after the Main device, this is Cold Sequence. The Utility Companies specifications will dictate the Sequence type. In some Utility selections, neither Hot or Cold sequence is defaulted. Users need to find out what sequence is required. If a Hot sequence Utility Metering compartment is placed after the main device, the layout will fail.
NOTE: The NEMA selection is not a utility. The plant will need to know the actual utility name so they can verify that the NEMA design will meet the requirements
