Motor Control Center Depth Selection (Video 12.39 min)

This article provides steps and information on the depth selection for MCC in COMPAS Go.

MCC depth selections is important because it sets a style of MCC. Users can select:

  • 15 Inch
  • 20 Inch (Front Only)
  • 21 (Back-to-Back)
  • 31 (15 double deep)
  • 41 (20 double deep)

For Back-to-Back (2 Face) the drawing shows the front of the sections first in increasing section number order and the rear of the sections in decreasing section number order. Back-to-Back has a single horizontal bus. The phasing is reversed for the back side. Fixed mounted devices greater than 250A up to 600A use a bus clamp assembly in the top 6" of the unit.

No other connection, stab or clamp can connect at the rear of this position. Units deeper than 8.4 inches cannot have vertical bus and should be placed at the bottom of the section.

For Double Deep the drawings will show in the section details a note for the section that is the last of the double deep front. Everything to the right of this section is behind the front sections. Users will need to select where the fold to the second section is in section properties. Users need to make selections in properties for end of front and identify the first section for the back. Double Deep application is limited to a 1600-amp. Configurations over 1600 amp need a special transition section. When over 1600 amp, contact AE for transition.

Double Deep Notes will refer to a drawing, D65615.  This drawing shows how to install the horizontal bus splice between the front and back section. It is supplied to the customer with the customer drawing package.
