Key Benefits of 3VA

400A RP1 - 3VA53 (TMTU) & 3VA63 (ETU) Mains

• Access of trip unit through deadfront
• All 400A interiors will allow JD and 3VA53/63 mains.
• First ETU available as main in P1
• 3VA63 400A ETU with 08 series allows basic metering functions which can free up unit space.
   

125A 3VA41 – Low Tab NGB replacement

• Lower or same cost across all amperages, some are competitive with BQD
• Internal accessories including aux/shunt trip
• Delta rating compatible
• New main kits allow interchangeability with 3VA/BQD/BL

                                                               All 250A and 400A 3VA4 interiors now come with 2/0 neutral strips as standard.

Defaults in COMPAS

400A RP1 - 3VA53 (TMTU) & 3VA63 (ETU) Mains are available & set as Default for the appropriate System Voltages

• 3VA53/63 default as in most cases cheaper (outside of JD2), for 3VA63 P1 put on par with competition, will be default in all lighting panels come summer

125A 3VA41 – Low Tab (similar to xGB series in size) are now the default in RP1 xGB/3VA4 Panels

• 3VA41 is default and in almost all cases less than xGB family equivalent
• 60% of all xGB usage is in P1
• 3VA41 has internal accessories reducing unit space needed, P2-P5 coming soon and working on expediting

• When selecting in COMPAS a System Voltage that includes 3VA41 in the breaker list – these breakers will be at the top of the list and considered the “Default” unless there is a different Breaker type chosen from the list.
• This Default in most cases will be the lower cost option, but there are exceptions.
• 1-pole (without Accessory pocket) - xGB series and 3VA41 series are similar in price and higher AIC ratings are lower cost for 3VA41 in general.
• 1-pole in 2-pole frame is needed for 3VA when accessory pocket is needed – same 2 inch wide footprint as an xGB with a shunt trip added.  Cost may be different depending on the accessory selected.
• 2-pole and 3-pole 3VA41 are typically lower price than xGB (some variations may not be lower price)

Changes to P1 Lighting panels with 3VA

Filler Plate Designs: JB and Blank

Same design as original JB filler plate, but adapted to fit the new dead front cutout

Blank design is same as JB expect no cutout in the center

Filler plate designs: 3VA63 400A

Picture frame design allows customer access to trip unit cover

New dead front cover:

Now cover identical to the old RP1 except for enlarged main breaker cutout

P1 250A & 400A xGB/3VA4 Neutral Strips upgraded to 2/0 as standard

Neutral Strips for all new xGB/3VA4 interiors (P18xxMC…) are new.

They all include 2/0 max. neutral strips instead of 1/0 max.

See below neutral support extension is added for 250A xGB/3VA4 +panels only.

250A xGB/3VA4 Panels will have a neutral strip extension below the neutral strip.

This moves the neutral strip away from the frame of the 3VA4 breakers for proper spacing.

400A xGB/3VA4 Panels do not require the neutral to be repositioned

UPB interior part numbers changes

Notes: 

• All P17… series interiors will be phased out after inventory is depleted.
• All UPB BL/BQD interiors for 400A will change Deadfronts to support larger opening for 3VA 400A mains as part of a running change – no catalog number changes are required.
• A Retrofit kit will be available to allow 3VA 400A Mains on older panels with small Main deadfront opening.

UPB Kits changes

Notes: 

• All current breaker kits can still be used and will not be phased out until later in the year. [ One Additional large filler may be needed in some cases.]
• Many of the new Strap kits are replacing two previous kits
• 1” filler DFFP1 is replaced by DFFP1A
