This article provides information for configuration of USS which in recently incorporated into COMPAS Go.

A unit substation consists of one or more transformers mechanically and electrically connected to and coordinated in design with one or more switchboard assemblies. A secondary unit substation is defined as a unit substation whose outgoing section is rated below 1000 V.

A typical secondary unit consists of three sections:

• Primary: depending upon the specific application, this section accepts medium-voltage (2.4 kV to 27.6 kV) incoming power
• Transformer: reduces incoming voltage to utilization voltage (600 V or less)
• Secondary: distributes power to, and provides protection for, outgoing feeders (600 V and less).

The key benefit of a secondary unit substation is that it economically brings power as close as possible to the loads, minimizing power loss and maximizing voltage regulation. It also enhances flexibility, using a system design concept that integrates a wide variety of components to tailor the equipment to the specific needs of each application. Every component or assembly utilized in secondary unit substations is engineered to be an integral part of a complete system.

USS configuration has the following options to complete the configuration. User can either choose USS with LVS/RCS or USS with Switchboard. Primary switch, SIEBREAK Primary switch and Transformer can be integral part of the configuration.

 USS:

1. When user launches the USS with LVS/RCS or USS with Switchboard from the add production from action menu. Respective USS is available from Switchboard or Low Voltage Switchgear as shown below.

2. On clicking the above options the user get the following to configure.

3. User need to enter the designation for the USS configuration.

 Primary Switch:

1. After launching the USS configuration and entering the designation, user has option to configure the primary switch. Clicking on the primary switch following options are available. User required information is completed in the following tabs

• Primary switch
• Incoming
• Load Termination 
• Options

2. On completion of the configuration, user observes the following.

Above primary switch configuration is added to the USS configuration as shown below.

User has option to

		Duplicate the primary switch
		Delete the primary switch from the configuration

 SIEBREAK Primary Switch:

1. After launching the USS configuration and entering the designation, user has option to configure the SIEBREAK primary switch. Clicking on the SIEBREAK primary switch following is available. 

2. After selecting the scenario (production/procurement/orderlines), click on the launch EPM button. On doing so, the following is available to the user.

3. After completing the SIEBREAK, move to the devices tab and the user has option to configure Load interrupter switch / Switch Breaker Combination / Auxiliary Section / Accessories / Custom Modification. 

4. Complete the required configuration, following is the information available to the user

User has option to 

	Description	Action
		Add child devices to the parent device.
		Check the price for the configuration
		Configure primary switch
		Duplicate the primary switch
		Delete the primary switch from the configuration

5. After completing the configuration, navigate to the "Layout" . User can have the option to view / edit, electrical view, drawing details and drawing for the configuration.

Click on the "Add to USS" and the SIEBREAK primary switch is added to the USS as shown below after clicking on the "Continue" button is approval drawing is not required.

User has option to the SIEBREAK primary switch line item.

 Transformer:

1. After launching the USS configuration and entering the designation, user has option to configure the transformer. Clicking on the transformer following options are available. User required information is completed in the following tabs

• XFMR
• Mods
• USS Drawing

2. On completion of the configuration, user observes the following. Transformer configuration is added to the USS configuration as shown below.

User has option to

 Switchboard:

1. After launching the USS configuration and entering the designation, user has option to configure the Switchboard. Clicking on the Switchboard following is available. 

2. After selecting the scenario (production/procurement/orderlines), click on the launch EPM button. On doing so, the following is available to the user.

3. After completing the switchboard tab, move to the "Incoming/Main branch" tab and the user has option to add incoming

4. Complete the required configuration of the switchboard, following is the information available to the user. [Please refer the switchboard configuration article for details]

5. After completing the configuration, navigate to the "Layout" . User can have the option to view / edit, electrical view, manual layout / drawing details and drawing for the configuration.

Click on the "Add to USS" and the Switchboard is added to the USS.

User has option to the Switchboard line item.

 Switchgear - LVS / RCS:

1. After launching the USS configuration and entering the designation, user has option to configure the LVS or RCS. Clicking on the respective icons which is available. These option as available when the USS is launched from the "Low Voltage Switchgear"

2. After selecting the scenario (production/procurement/orderlines), click on the launch EPM button. On doing so, the following is available to the user. [based on selection of LVS or RCS]

3. Complete the required configuration of the switchgear, following is the information available to the user. [Please refer the switchgear configuration article for details]  After completing the configuration, navigate to the "Layout" . User can have the option to view / edit, electrical view, manual layout / drawing details and drawing for the configuration.

Click on the "Add to USS" and the switchgear is added to the USS as shown below after clicking on the "Continue" button is approval drawing is not required.

User has option to the Switchgear line item.

 Import Line Items

1. After launching the USS configuration and entering the designation, user has option to pull configurations from the existing quote. (current quote or other quotes which can be searched using search quotes). Option to do this is using the button 

2. On clicking the button, user has the following 

3. Loading the line items from different quote, the following is listed to user.

User can click on the "" icon against the respective line items and will launch the configuration as shown. 

User can modify the configuration or click on the "Add to USS" button from the action menu. On doing so, the line item is added to the USS configuration.

 Drawing option

1. After completing the USS configuration, navigate to the "Layout/Desgin" or press CNTRL + 2 button. User get the following information which has View/Edit, electrical view and drawing tab as shown below.

2. Click on the drawing tab as shown below.

User has option to download the drawing into a DXF or Revit format from the action menu. Also the user can download the drawing in PDF format.

3. On saving the configuration, the USS is added as line item as shown below.
