How to disable ACD for Ethernet/IP Devices?

The parameterization of some EtherNet/IP specific communication parameters is requiring the use of the mechanisms of CIP objects of EtherNet/IP. Some settings which are adjusted via the TCP/IP object or the Ethernet Link object can only be set either from the PLC or using the EtherNet/IP Tool from Molex. (which can be found on Molex website)

Address Collision Detection (ACD):

With SIMOCODE pro V EIP version V1.1.1 - V1.1.3 there are certain network configurations, in which ACD is leading to problems, when multiple devices are simultaneously starting up on the network. In these cases, it’s recommended to disable ACD (TCP/IP object; attribute 10).

To disable ACD follow these steps:

1. Open EIP tool from Molex.

2. Enter IP address of the E/IP Device in station field (In this example the IP address is 192.168.2.90)

3. Select 0xF5 TCP/IP tab

4. In 0xF5 TCP/IP window, click on Get_Attribute_All.

5. Now all the fields that are applicable and have values will be populated.

6. To disable the ACD feature first select the disable ACD radial button, then click on "Set_Attribute" button.

To re-enable ACD follow the same steps except this time select Enable ACD and click on "Set_Attribute" button.
