How to Add Shunt Trip Option to Circuit Breakers in a Panelboard

A shunt trip provision on a circuit breaker allows it to be tripped remotely from a push-button or switch somewhere else in a building.  Typically shunt trip is included on circuit breakers feeding elevator loads.

  1. Configure your panelboard as you would normally.

  2. Add the appropriate sized circuit breaker.  In this example, the schedule called for a 20 amp 2 pole breaker with a shunt trip provision.

  3. After adding the breaker, click ACCS next to PROP (to bring up Accessories window ), check on "Shunt Trip" option on Accessories window on the right side.
