EFB300 external function box

The EFB300 external function box provides digital outputs and inputs for 3VA6 Electronic Trip Unit circuit breakers. The functions of these inputs and outputs can be programmed with the commissioning and service software power config.

Area of application
3VA molded case circuit breakers equipped with the electronic trip unit systems ETU 3-series, ETU 5-series and ETU 8-series can be optionally upgraded with an EFB300 external function box. The EFB300 external function box is used to output a wide range of electrical signals that indicate various states of the 3VA molded case circuit breaker. These signals can be connected to transmitters, e.g. lights, adjacent contact  blocks or to signal acquisition devices of control systems. It can be installed together with the 3VA molded case circuit breaker in the control cabinet or accessories cabinet.

Features
Below is a list of the possible events that can be selected by parameterization for output as electrical signals via the digital outputs of the EFB300:

? All trip causes differentiated according to LSIG, RCD - (for IEC only)
? Overload alarms AL1 and AL2
? Pre-trip alarm from overload protection system
? Output of an energy pulse (S0 signal) (with ETUs 8-series only)
? Load shedding
? Load acceptance
? Zone-selective interlocking ZSI

The digital input can be used to

? acknowledge output signals and reset them
? acquire an electrical signal from the environment and use it for communication purposes

The EFB300 external function box is supplied with 24 V DC and acts as a power supply for the connected ETU. This allows the ETU to remain operational even when a 3VA molded case circuit breaker has tripped.
