This article explains the Switchboard COMPAS Metering Configurations.
- Switchboard metering is limited based on the section type that the compartment is placed into
- Individual compartments have more space available for mounting components than panel compartments
- COMPAS will default the compartment type, based on the mounting style of the device that the compartment is created below
- Individually mounted device = Individually mounted compartment
- Panel mounted device = Panel mounted compartment
- Incoming, pull section required = Individually mounted compartment
- Incoming, no pull section required > 2000A = Individually mounted compartment
- Incoming, no pull section required <= 2000A = Panel mounted compartment
Individually Mounted Auxiliary Compartment
- Full-width metering compartment placed in pull or service type section
- Multiple devices may be placed in an individual compartment
- Only one individual compartment allowed per section
Compartment mounting type defaults to the mounting type of the device that it is created below
- Multiple components may be placed in a single Individually mounted auxiliary compartment
- Dependent on section width (38W compartment will hold more meters than a 20W compartment)
- 32W individual compartment can hold up to 6 PAC3200 meters
- Do not create multiple individual compartments below a single incoming; incoming sections may contain a maximum of one individually mounted compartment
Compartment mounting type defaults to the mounting type of the device that it is created below
When created below any device where mounting = individual, compartment will default to individual
Multiple components may be placed in a single Individually mounted auxiliary compartment
Dependent on section width (38W compartment will hold more meters than a 20W compartment)
38W individual compartment can hold up to 9 PAC3200 meters
Do not create multiple individual compartments below a single main; main sections may contain a maximum of one individually mounted compartment
Panel Mounted Auxiliary Compartment
- Metering compartment placed in panel area of distribution type section
- Single device per compartment
- Multiple compartments may be allowed per section (depending on available panel unit space)
Compartment mounting type defaults to the mounting type of the device that it is created below
One component may be placed in a panel mounted auxiliary compartment
If more components are required, they must be added in another compartment.
IPS Mounted Auxiliary Compartment
- Metering compartment placed in and IPS type section
- Multiple devices may be placed in an IPS compartment
- Two IPS compartments allowed per section
Auxiliary compartments may now be mounted in IPS sections
- Panelboards
- Transformers
- IPS Cutoff
May contain same devices as other auxiliary compartments, including Contactors
Use Existing Metering Space
- Use when existing compartment is already available to place metering components into
Select Use Existing only when there is available compartment space to place all required devices. Panel compartment may hold two digital meters
